Instructional Designer
EPIC: Erskine Personal Impact Curriculum
This project is a collaboration with Special Olympics Indiana to create a free curriculum for k-12 students focusing on teaching inclusion, perseverance, and character using the film, The Best We’ve Got: The Carl Erskine Story, and the books The Parallel?, Wanna Play?, and Playing for Change as a foundation. My role for this project is instructional designer and lesson plan author. The first link directs to the project site. The second is a sample of my own lesson plan.

Video Production and Instructional Designer
H.M.S. Pinafore Introduction
​Background
The IU Opera Theater produces three operas per semester. Each year, they present an abbreviated performance for Monroe County school students. In an effort to expand the outreach of the performance for children beyond Monroe County, I contacted and enlisted music school teachers in Indianapolis and Bloomfield so that we could engage elementary school students remotely. These remote teachers presented an introductory video that highlighted the theme of "class differences' and featured interviews with the cast.
Overall Instructional Goal
Learner will recognize the theme of an opera and understand the activity and artistry onstage
Conceptual Goals:

My Project Role

Designed the lesson by chunking production information in segments that suited the cognitive development levels of the intended audience

Coordinated interviews, video production shoots, and content to produce an end product that would be delivered to the intended learners (elementary students in Indiana)

Produced project from start to finish (acquired equipment, hired engineers, recorded and edited media)

Facilitated live stream of the children's concert (hired camera operators, production video switcher, launched stream software and chat) to remote audience schools and coordinated live interactive chats between the stage host and the remote locations

Production Processes
I produced this video to create an accessible resource for Audio Engineering and Sound Production students at the Jacobs School of Music to learn the basic operation protocols for the sound control rooms. My role in this project was to perform a needs analysis of which protocols should be covered in this video, write the script, produce the video, and edit the final product. Instructional Designer
Social Media Instructional Video
As a part of my research in the implementation of design that encourages social presence, I created an assignment that called for students to reflect on their procedural learning in a course throughout the semester. In their reflection, they would identify a topic or skill that they viewed as a bottleneck and create a short instructional video in a classroom social media group.
Instructional Objectives

Facilitate cognitive presence through motivating rehearsal of procedural learning

Facilitate social presence through mediating an instructional environment by requiring students to create and share content as well as respond to their peer postings

Audio Engineer and Editor
I have extensive training in audio engineering from the University of Memphis, The University of Colorado, and the Aspen Music Festival and School. I have been mentored by and worked with Grammy-winning engineers and produced countless recordings.
